Hey guys! I'm back from Toronto and back to university.
Toronto was pretty awesome, but the Pacific Mall was nothing like I expected it would be. XD It was kinda claustrophobic... all of those little shops crammed in together like that. :0
Anyway, I'm back, and I'll hopefully be a little more active now. Though I'm going to start getting a crapload of assignments and whatnot pretty soon, so who knows. D:
I'll try, though! ;_;
...Twilight?!
OH, OH!! Also, over the holidays, I tried to read Twilight!! XD I mean, I'm a hater, don't get me wrong, but I don't really like hating on something that I don't
really know about. Since I haven't read or seen Twilight, my only interpretation of it was what people were saying about it online. And sometimes people blow things out of proportion.
Though I was already hating Twilight for two valid (for me) reasons:
1. Marketing - I hate it when adults target susceptible audiences (like (pre)pubescent girls) for marketing.
2. Prop 8 - Apparently Stephenie Meyer supports it (she gives tithes to the Mormon church, and some of that goes towards Prop 8, and there have also been rumors that she donates straight to it herself).
Anyway, I'd heard that the books were terribly written, but I needed to see what the hype was about for myself. Heck, if I read it, maybe I would even like it!
...I made it through, I think, twelve chapters before my eyeballs started bleeding. If you've read Twilight, it was the chapter after he "glitters in the sunlight". I ALMOST wanted to keep reading, but I just could not stand the writing style. It's incredibly bland! The story is told from the first-person perspective of the main character, and I swear, the ONLY time she ever feels emotion is when she's wangsting or swooning over Edward. It's pretty much a "boring day at school" story with every third word replaced with EDWARD. Random bouts of "exciting events" are thrown in the story at random SOLELY so Bella can get her butt in trouble and Edward can SWOOP IN DRAMATICALLY to save her.
Anyway, anyway... I'm not going to rant any more than that, because I know everyone has heard it before... And some of you probably like Twilight, so I don't want to get in too over my head here. xD; Basically, it's just not my kind of book. Maybe I'm just not "romantic" enough to fall under its spell.
Oh, but I did write a one-sentence review for Twilight! Here it is:
Twilight is the worst Dracula fanfic I have ever read.All right, I'm done.
